History and Structure
The Faculty development is closely connected with the development of the whole Academy. Considering the importance of computer technologies in modern information society, NaUKMA administration has been paying particular attention to the University's computerization. The University Computer Center was created when the reopened University was making its first steps. The Faculty itself existed firstly as a special unit which included Department of Informatics and Department of Mathematics, as well as the above mentioned University Computer Center. In September 2000 the unit was reorganized into the Faculty of Computer Sciences. Nowadays, the Faculty includes four departments: of Computer Sciences, of Mathematics, of Network Technologies, and of Multimedia Systems. The Faculty offers Bachelor’s Degrees in Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering, and Master’s Degrees in Information Control Systems and Technologies, Intellectual Systems of Decision Making, and Software of Automated Systems.
Learning Opportunities
The essence of the Faculty educational programs is the introductory and advanced level study of cybernetics, programming, and applied mathematics.
The Faculty programs of all the levels are designed to provide solid academic training in Computer sciences along with the major orientation on the software computer technologies and systems design.
Most of the Faculty advanced courses speak on different aspects of programming and algorithmic methods as a modern approach to the program solving.
Wide-spread of Internet-technologies, multimedia way of information presentation, as well as implementation of computer systems into different fields of economics, industry and culture require the Faculty to introduce new practically oriented courses, like network and multimedia technologies, agent technologies, actuarial mathematics, financial mathematics etc.
Career Opportunities
The faculty educates specialists prepared to design and implement modern computer operating systems, as well as to apply theoretical and practical system analysis into the all possible spheres of economics, management etc, as well as into the profound scholarly research.
